John C. Maxwell
Leadership Gold

Leadership is about placing people in the right place so they can be successful. As a leader, you need to know and value your people for who they are and let them work according to their strengths. There's nothing wrong with ducks. Just don't ask them to soar or hunt from a high altitude. It's not what they do.

As a leader, you should always challenge people to move out of their comfort zone, but never out of their strength zone. People who are used to moving fast and flying high are easily frustrated by people who want to hold them back.

One of the most difficult transitions for any leader is going from leader of followers to leader of leaders. Assist the people you are mentoring in making this transition by helping them to spot, recruit, and develop potential leaders. Ask them to talk through the potential of each person they lead using the above list of characteristics. Then encourage them to start investing in those with the most potential.

For leaders, it's best to know the most important things than to know everything.

Destined To Reign

As long as you continue to have a wrong perception of God and withdraw from Him, the devil can keep you bound in a life of defeat.

When you've failed, the Holy Spirit convicts you of righteousness, not your sin.

Stop wondering if you have enough faith and just believe that it is His blood alone that saves, delivers and blesses you.

It is all about Jesus and His finished work!
You are destined to reign through Him.
This is the secret to effortless success, wholeness and victorious living!

(Chapter 4)
The Cup Of The Will

Reference: 1 Samuel 15:1-14, 22

We see that God had told Saul to destroy all of the Amalekites. There was a direct, clear word. It could not be misinterpreted (vs. 1-3). Yet Saul disobeyed the command of the Lord.

Chapter 16
How do we respect the measure of others?

Reference: 1Corinthians 11:23-33
The way we respect the measure of another man's authority is by doing what we are called to do. God has set boundaries for every man.

Bread of Life

Psalm 119:11

Thy word have I hid in my heart, that I might not sin against thee.

I find myself attracted to this portion of scripture, the entire chapter of the 119th Psalm because of the emphasis the psalmist places on the word of God.

The psalmist is displaying the importance of the word of God in his life, very passionately. In contrast the proud are cursed who go away from the word of God. The word of God is the psalmist's delight and counselors. He request of the Lord to do unto him according to the word of the Lord. With his whole heart he seeks the way of the Lord. He has hope in the word. The word of God gives him life. Regardless of what he is going through he has not forgotten the word of the Lord, in which he has hope.

He look to God to teach him and give him understanding of His word. He views his afflictions as good that he may learn the statutes of God. The commandments of God has made him wiser than his enemies and given him more understanding than his teachers. He meditates upon the testimonies of God. Every false way he hates because of the understanding he gains from the precepts of God. The word is a lamp unto his feet and a light unto his path. He gives unto the Lord freewill offerings of his mouth.

The wicked laid a snare for him; yet he erred not from the precepts of God. He took the testimonies of the Lord for his heritage forever. They are the rejoicing of his heart. "It is time for thee, Lord, to work; for they have made void thy law," this statement rings in my ears ( vs. 126) as I view our current culture, in awe.

The psalmist proclaims he loves the word above gold, fine gold. His desire is that the Lord will open his eyes that he may behold wondrous things out of the word of God. He has chosen the way of truth. He considered his way, turned his feet from evil, and made haste and delayed not to keep the word of the Lord.

Interestingly before he was afflicted he went astray; but now (after the affliction) he has kept the word of God. He confesses that the Lord is good and does good. He states that his zeal consumes him because his enemies have forgotten the word of God. In the mist of trouble and anguish; yet the word of God is his delight. Great peace have they which love the word of God, and nothing shall offend them. (Amazing!)

The psalmist can confidently request the hand of God to help him because he has chosen God's precepts.

This particular verse stands out in conclusion, in contrast, to the previous verses (vs. 176), placing emphasis on it. In comparison to the context this verse appears strikingly out of context. In light of verses 67 and 71, as well as, other collaborative verses, we can conclude that, the desire and appreciation of the word of God in the psalmist's life was attained by his life experiences, primarily what we would consider negative experiences, bringing him to the knowledge of the need for the word of God in his life. The knowledge that God is good and always do good.

"You will not know it's dark if you haven't experienced the light, to know the difference" {JLT}

This Psalm is a Hebrew poem (acrostic) each 8 verses of the 22 stanzas begin with a letter of the Hebrew alphabet, interesting.

I invite you to study this psalm and enjoy the experience. Until next time...Grow!
